In 2018, the Direct Selling Association was in the process of moving their event to San Diego, CA. During our intake call, they shared the parameters of their event objectives. During this call, there were specific questions from our client that stood out to me: “How do we make this event have a ‘beach feel’ but not be tacky? How do we convey water and not make our audience feel like they’re drowning?”
After discussing with our internal team, we knew the direction DSA would take: making the waves two dimensional and abstract. Not only were the illusion of waves a success, but the way these waves also served as transitional pieces in our animation design was recognized as a unique approach that served both our client’s requests.
